Smaller chocolate bars?

February 1, 2015 by Martha’s Dad

bigchoc-8829292As we get older, we start to notice odd things… policemen start to seem younger, for instance, and there just aren’t as many crisps in a packet as there were in the past.  Everything is in decline, perhaps enjoying a linear relationship with our own faculties!  And yes…the chocolate bars we have enjoyed since childhood seem to get smaller and smaller all the time – don’t they?!?

Well, it seems there may be more than a grain of truth (or do I mean chocolate powder?) in this latter observation from a grumpy old man.  As this piece in The Mirror demonstrates, Snickers bars have dropped a whole ten grammes, there are five grammes less Smarties in a so-called “sharing” pack now, and just don’t get me started on the declining diameter of the good old Wagon Wheel.  And yes, you guessed it – the price hasn’t dropped, its remained a constant for each!  Oh dear… where are my Midget Gems?!?
